Episode 24: From legal tech counsel to legal tech founder and disrupting the billable hour with Kate McAlister

My guest today isn’t afraid of taking risk.

Her career is a testament to this. Jumping in house with only one year of experience is one thing but leaving legal practice altogether to co-found a legal tech start up is another.

Kate McAlister is a trade mark expert and co-founder of Markster.

Prior to founding Markster, Kate found herself burnt out and ready to throw in the towel on the law altogether. Her experience is one that sadly, I hear all too often.

I am so grateful to her for honestly sharing about that time in her life. I have no doubt that Kate’s story will resonate with you too.

If you are struggling with the demands of legal practice, or just life in general at this time, please know that you are not alone. So many of us, including myself, have experienced tough times in the law. Your employer should have an Employee Assistance Program in place and I would encourage you to use it.

They say that it is always darkest before the dawn. And, listening to Kate’s story proves that to be true.

She seems to me to have truly found her place in the industry and is a shining example for anyone who needs a little hope right now.
